Seeing as though I’m now working in a new environment I have to tailor it for fast development - just as fast as how I would work under Windows.  Recently I’m working on web projects using PHP and MySQL, although I haven’t got as much time as I would like.

Windows To Mac Apache/MySQL/PHP

XAMPP was my package of choice, and it was very simple to use.  I did a search for it using Mac and I received a few results saying how it could be used under Mac quite easily.  Unfortunately this wasn’t the case, so I ditched this idea once I found out about MAMP, specifically aimed at Mac OS.  It’s very easy to setup and get going, although Python integration seems impossible which is a shame.  I haven’t found any good articles on getting Python working under MAMP.

Text Editor

If it’s web dev I’m more inclined to use a text editor as it’s much more simplified compared to application development.  TextWrangler has become my weapon of choice, it’s simple to use, has nice text highlighting, and even saving over FTP which is great.

Quite a simple setup really, and not much configuring required.
